1950 Birds Eye fish recipe using ketchup??

SHORTENING SYRUP

This is a 1945 rationing recipe that allows you to serve pancakes without having to use any butter.

INGREDIENTS

1 cup dark corn syrup

¼ cub vegetable shortening or margarine

½ teaspoon vanilla

DIRECTIONS

Combine syrup and shortening in saucepan and melt over low heat. Add vanilla and beat until well combined. Serve hot

MOCK BARBEQUED CHICKEN

Is barbeque sauce so hard to make that you have to fake it? Where are the spices in this? I cannot imagine what this would taste like, and I don’t want to.

INGREDIENTS

4 cups Pepsi

2 cups ketchup

2 cut up chickens

DIRECTIONS

Boil soda and ketchup together.

Place chicken pieces in large pan, pour soda mix over chicken.

Bake at 375 for about 1 hour.
